Problems a Tree Arborist Addresses

As living things, trees are also susceptible to disease. As arborists, we have done the training to provide appropriate care and advice regarding issues that may affect trees.

  • The location of a tree is important – if planted in the wrong place, the tree is unlikely to grow much or even at all. It is also critical that you plant your trees with care – failure to do so will often mean that your tree does not survive.
  • If you prune your trees incorrectly, or over- or under-water them, a tree arborist will be able to identify the problem and provide you with advice on how to fix it. The same applies to using too much herbicide, or too little.
  • Accidents do happen, and sometimes trees bear the brunt of these mishaps. Arborist trees can be maintained and brought back to health if the problem is identified in time.

Related Services We Provide to Arborist Trees

The state-of-the-art equipment we use to conduct our work, along with our extensive knowledge and experience means that you are getting a premium quality service, no matter what the job.

  • If you need a tree removed, we can assist. We have a great deal of experience in this area and will make sure that the entire tree, including the stump, is removed.
  • Stumps of arborist trees should not be left behind. This is unsightly and could cause problems for you further down the line if you want to build in that area. We will grind the stump down to well below the surface, eliminating the tripping hazard altogether.
  • After we have removed a tree or ground down a stump, we turn the wood chippings from these processes into mulch, which is excellent for gardening purposes.

We service a wide area of up to 200km around Whakatane, Kawerau and Opotiki, and you’ll be pleased to know that we are also the preferred tree service supplier for these three District Councils.

How Does a Tree Arborist Work?

Tree arborists can be of great help to you in establishing and maintaining a beautiful range of trees on your property, which can add a lot of value. The study of trees is called arboriculture – you may be shocked to learn that there are more than 60 000 species of trees on our planet. We fully understand that it is not always possible to keep all trees when you are developing land, and in such cases, we will work closely with you to preserve as many trees as possible and try to avoid damage to the broader area in terms of ecosystems and wildlife.

If you’d like to ask us any questions about trees on your property, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to seeing how we can help you.

Problems a Tree Doctor Addresses

A tree doctor is effective in maintaining woody plants, offering proactive preservation of the eco-system and consequently minimising concerns and possible future challenges. Furthermore, arborists are the service resource called upon during emergencies for complex removals.

  • Growth and tree health. Pruning is a conservation practice which enables tree health, assists with harvest preparation, improves aesthetics, and aids the lower plant layers (shrubs, moss, and herbs) to thrive. In contrast, tree health can degrade for various reason, including pests. In these cases, an arborist’s task is to assist with the assessment and removal of the dead or decaying tree.
  • Proximity, location, and threat. Depending on the position and growth of a tree, it could be a nuisance or pose a potential risk. In which case we will need to assess the tree and find the right solution, in the form of either pruning or clearance.
  • Assessment, planning and clearance. The knowledge and understanding of how a tree species reacts and relates to its environment are integral to the evaluation and planning of an area. It guides an arborist on when, where, and how to prune or cut down a tree to maintain a viable eco-system and avoid possible risks. Clearance, in contrast is the removal of a tree due to hazardous obstruction or risk. Dependent on the situation, this can be a complex undertaking requiring a seasoned arborist and adherence to stringent health and safety protocols.

Related Services we Provide as a Tree Doctor

Andersen’s Tree Services encompasses a team of experienced and knowledgeable tree surgeons. Our arborists can assist with removals, maintenance, and planning.

  • Tree removal. We are committed to a safe and optimal environment for all, and as such, we offer emergency tree removal 24/7 to local councils, businesses, and individuals. Our state-of-the-art equipment in our experienced hands means no job is too complex.
  • Pruning. Depending on your requirements, we offer a range of pruning options. We can thin out the branches, control height and growth or trim back the tree, ensuring the tree remains in a healthy state.
  • Stump grinding and mulch. Often tree removal operations leave behind a stump, which can be hazardous. We offer a stump grinding service, whereby we grind the stump to below surface level. This process naturally produces mulch, which we can remove or it can be utilised as you choose.

Things to Know About Tree Maintenance

Tree maintenance is integral to metropolitan areas and the delicate balance of the eco-system. As metropolitans expand, increased human intervention is required to balance the natural environment with urban developments. At Andersen’s Tree Services, we endeavour to manage this proactively to cultivate conservation and mitigate risks.

The Importance of Tree Maintenance

Maintaining ‘green’ areas in developed regions is imperative to people and the environment. By practising tree maintenance through area assessments as well as health and safety evaluations, one can strategically plan and advise on preservation practices. A methodology that inevitably supports the neighbourhood, ecology, society, and legal requirements.

  • Mitigate risk. Proactive management of an area lowers the probability of risk. This includes clearing trees identified as health and safety risks as well as managing tree growth. Tree growth can be controlled through routine thinning and trimming of branches as well as crown reduction methods.
  • Environmental conservation. Tree maintenance is two-fold, while it mitigates risk to humans and urban development, it also allows for conservation. Trees are integral to our survival in many ways, the roots assist with holding soil; minimising landslides, they provide a natural habitat for insects and animals, as well as oxygen for life on earth. By nurturing the ‘green’ areas in cities and neighbourhoods while still allowing for development, there is a commitment to a viable future.
  • Regulations. There are various regulations related to an owner’s responsibility around tree maintenance on a property. One such regulation pertains to the fence line. An adjacent property owner can request for a tree hangover to be cut to the fence bordering the properties.

Services we Offer Regarding Tree Maintenance

We are committed to ensuring environmental maintenance alongside viable development. Part of this includes a range of services to best suit your needs, whether you are a homeowner, landscaper, business, or local council. Our skilled arborists offer a wealth of experience supported by specialised equipment.

  • Crown reduction and clearing. By reducing foliage bearing portions of a tree, there is a reduction in stress on the tree, which enables the tree to thrive in its current environment. Moreover, crown reduction can minimise shading and the loss of light, while protecting power lines and lowering risk of injury.
  • Cutting to fence line. Depending on the tree height and width, this could be a tricky task. It is vital to ensure the tree remains balanced and cut effectively, so there is no structural damage.
  • Thinning. Through the consistent and strategic pruning of branches, thinning enables natural resources, including light to reach the lower layers of plant life. As such, the area’s entire plant life continues to thrive.
